The popular milk & sugar set Newton has been selected into the BIO 19 Design Bienniale in Ljubljana Slovenia, a comparative exhibition of well designed Slovenian and foreign industrial products. The aim of the exhibition is to present current movements in contemporary industrial design.

Exhibition: YOUNG FORUM

Since 1996 the The Finnish Society of Crafts and Design, commonly known as Design Forum, has arranged a number of exhibitions featuring young Finnish Design. This year Young Forum will again provide us with a view of what is hot and cooking in Finnish Design. Tonfisk is represented by the two young women designers Jenni Ojala and Susanna Hoikkala and their work for Tonfisk.

Scandinavian Design Beyond the Myth

Tonfisk was invited to the "Scandinavian Design Beyond the Myth" -exhibition that scans design in the nordic countries for the past fifty years. In the exhibition info it is said that "...Scandinavian design provides us with a paradigm in order to understand the making of the modern world, and we see that it still has meaning for people the world over."

SEMINAR: Design Ireland Week 2003  

Design Ireland Week 2003 Seminar was organized by The Institute of Designers in Ireland (IDI). A topic was "Scandinavian Design" where prominent Scandinavian Design companies presented their views. Brian Keaney represented Tonfisk in a group of speakers from other well known Scandinavian companies like SAAB, Bang & Olufsen and Schmit Hammer Lassen.

Designer's Cut - Documentary

Finnish designer Stefan Lindfors picked the brains of a number of designers on a late summer afternoon with his camera. The auteur presents a view into the core of Finnish contemporary design on a 13 minute film documentary "Designer's Cut". Tony Alfström and Brian Keaney were two of the designers among others asked to tell their view on Finnish design today. The film was shown at the Habitare´03 fair and on TV Nelonen. Kaj Franck - Today -exhibition  

Tonfisk Design is invited to participate in the "Kaj Franck - Today" -exhibition held in Design Forum, Helsinki 7.6.-21.9.2003. The focus of the exhibition is the designer Kaj Franck (1911-1989) and his philosophy and influence on the Finnish design scene from the 1950's until the 21:th century. Tonfisk plays a part in 100 years of Finnish Ceramic History!  

The last 100 years of Finnish Ceramic history is both illustrious and inspiring. Now at the Designmuseo in Helsinki is an exhibition which details that history. Many Famous names of Finnish ceramics and design are represented, including Kaj Franck, Tapio Wirkkala and Timo Sarpaneva. And in recognition of its achievements in recent times, Tonfisk Design is also present. If you are in Helsinki from 17.1 - 16.3.2003 do go and see! 'A.W.
